The CHEESE Project is back in action as Autumn temperatures become cold enough for thermal imaging surveys

Our guided Heatview® thermal imaging surveys have been helping people uncover the causes of heat-loss at home for ten years now. We use a blower door fan to depressurise the building, to really bring out the contrast in the faults and fabric of the building. For the very best results, we need a 10 degree difference between the inside and outside temperature, and that’s why our survey season is only open during the colder months of the year.
Survey slots are now available to book in November! You can book and pay online, or over the phone.
So what’s new at CHEESE?
Offer for homeowners
Let’s start with what hasn’t changed, where we are thrilled to confirm that the brilliant Retrofit West discount scheme for homeowners is continuing thoughout the whole of our 2025/26 surveying season. Funded by the West of England Combined Authority, this offer gives homeowners up to 70% off the cost of their survey (up to £500) to kickstart their retrofit journey. Find out more and book here.
Offer for renters
We love this offer for homeowners, but what about renters? Thanks to grant funding, we are excited to be able to offer a special Renters Discount for the first time ever. Tenants can get a huge 80% discount off our standard survey price, in a bundle with Pulse background ventilation testing, plus free draughtproofing materials worth more than £50. All this comes in at £100 only. Find out more and register here.
Pulse testing
What exactly is this Pulse testing mentioned above? Pulse equipment uses a tank of compressed air to measure how leaky, or ventilated, or not ventilated, a building is. A certain level of airtightness is a requirement of building regulations for new builds these days, since draughts cause heat-loss. But at the same time, it is important to have proper ventilation to prevent air quality and mould issues. The CHEESE Project is happy to be able to bring this extra layer of data to households. Free surveys
As a non-profit, it has always been important to us to offer a percentage of our surveys for free to households on low incomes or who may be struggling with fuel poverty. Thanks to the Quartet Foundation, and another grant fund, we are able to offer more free surveys this season than we ever have before. These usually come as referrals through our trusted network of community contacts, but we also welcome people to get in touch to see if we can help with their cold home. Find out more and book a callback here.
Workshops
Finally, we are really looking forward to getting out and about this season by offering 4 workshops on the causes of cold in our homes and how to tackle them. A guest surveyor will talk through the top thermal faults we find, we will demo some easy DIY ways to draughtproof at home, and we’ll also provide some sandwiches and light refreshments.
