Projects

Over the years we have been delighted to lead on, partner with, or support various projects on thermal imaging and energy efficiency. These all help to contribute to our ultimate goal of reducing energy bills and carbon emissions for all.

Reports on heat-loss across similar building types

Do homes that look the same from the outside gain and lose heat in the same way? Mostly, yes. But every home is different because over time owners replace, change, add to and convert parts of them. One of CHEESE’s surveyors was awarded a Community Retrofit Accelerator grant from Retrofit West to study homes in various parts of Bristol where houses were built at the same time to the same design. The results show that some heat-loss problems are very common, and conclude that if you live in a similar type of house, you too will be able to improve warmth and comfort in ways described in the booklets.

Case Study: St Anne’s House community building survey

From time to time we survey larger community buildings and churches for example. The size and construction can be challenging, as well as the need to heat the building to gain good quality contrasts. But valuable insights can inform important retrofit works large and small.
